Marquette, MI – 07/22/2019 – Marquette’s annual Blueberry Festival is happening downtown this Friday! For the 18th year in a row, Washington and Front street will be packed with food vendors, art, sidewalk sales and other various activities for children and adults. From 10am to 7pm check out all the entertainment the Blueberry Festival has to offer, with a Youth Talent Show kicking things off at 11am! After that, check out the live music that will be going on all day, with The Union Suits starting at 1pm on the corner of Washington and Front Street. After The Union Suits you can catch DSP, Will Kilpela & Friends, State 51 Band, Flat Broke Blue Band, and the Banitt South Ziegner Trio wrapping up the night!
There will be a number of blueberry related items during the festival including blueberry related food, and blueberry beer! Even the local shops are expected to be getting in on the blueberry theme with “blue” specials happening throughout their stores. Local farmers will be there with an assortment of crisp produce including, you guessed it, fresh blueberries!
Before you check out the festival happening downtown on Friday, the 12th annual Blueberry Dance Festival will be happening the 24th and 25th at Kaufman Auditorium. On Wednesday, stop by the auditorium for free drop-in dance classes happening from 8am-2pm. The hour long dance classes that are happening throughout the day include: Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical/Contemporary, Charleston, and Pilates! On Thursday, you can register and pay ahead of time to take master classes happening from 8am-4:30pm followed by a Showcase/Competition performance starting at 7pm! To sign up for those classes you can stop in Second Skin Shop located 130 West Washington Street.
