Marquette, MI – January 23, 2020 – We joined 300 people at the Northern Center tonight for the 3rd Annual Wild Game Dinner. Presented by the Home Builders Association of the Upper Peninsula and mediaBrew Communications, tonight’s event funded scholarships for local students studying trade skills. In 2019 the event raised over $4,000 in scholarships. This year the HBA sold 15,000 raffle tickets, selling 4,000 in the first 30 minutes after doors opened!
As the evening started, HBA Executive Officer Sarah Schultz welcomed guests to the benefit. Citizens United for Freedom and Firearms (C.U.F.F) President Bob Fassbender also took a moment to talk about how the group helps train and educate gun handlers. C.U.F.F hosts kids events, safety classes, and more to help protect and educate people about the Second Amendment. The group donated 20% off their raffle sales from the night to the HBA Scholarship Fund.
Returning to the mic for the 3rd year in a row, 103 FXD’s own Adam Carpenter emceed for the rest of the evening. He drew hundreds of winning tickets tonight giving out prizes like blankets, ball caps, cups, and signs from MIFab360. Larger raffle prizes included an entire Man Cave package and a She Shed package from Ashley HomeStore, an Ice Fishing Package sponsored by the HBA, a massive Camping set, and a “No Cooking for One Month” package complete with certificates to restaurants from all over the Upper Peninsula.
Several guns were also raffled off including a vintage 8 gauge shotgun from 1898 and the grand prize, a Ruger American 350 Legend Rifle. Gun sponsors were Rainy Creek, K2 Insulation, FRACO, United Rentals, Wilbur Jennings, Dresseler Mechanical, and Northern Energy Solutions.
Jandrons Fine Jewelry also hosted a special drawing with a $1,000 piece of jewelry up for grabs! Other giveaways included a 50-50 drawing, a Heads or Tails game for a Husqvarna chainsaw, and cash raffles for $500!
Big thanks to everyone in the community that helped make tonight possible including the donating businesses, sponsors, and all of the guests who came out to participate in the fundraiser.
