Union Grill’s Barbecue Combo Platter Saves Lunch

Marquette, MI – September 19, 2014 – An apple a day is supposed to keep the doctor away, but it sure doesn’t fill you up very much. This morning I brought an apple to work to keep me from getting hungry. To the surprise of absolutely no one, this didn’t work out so great. I was hungry again by 11am.

Lucky for me, my co-worker, Nancy, was just as hungry as I was, so we took a ride down to the Union Grill in South Marquette. After a quick debate, we decided to split a BBQ Combo Platter: tangy pulled pork, succulent BBQ chicken, and tasty smoked beef brisket, served up hot with cornbread, fries, and creamy coleslaw.

Union Grill is always fast and we didn’t wait long for the food to be delivered to our table. I tried the chicken first, because chicken is my favorite. It was a delectable treat straight out of the South. The brisket was tender and tasty, but the pulled pork really was the pièce de résistance of the entire platter. I finished that off without much trouble.

The sides were just as good as the main course. The cornbread was moist, the fries were flavorful, and the coleslaw… Well, I ended up giving that to Nancy because she likes it more than I do. I’m nice like that.

The BBQ Combo Platter did the job and filled us both up. It was so good I forgot to save room for dessert, which I (almost) never do! I suppose that means I’ll have to call ahead and pick up a piece of cheesecake on my way home. Maybe I’ll get two pieces – one for me and one for my husband (maybe).
