Gwinn, MI  –  August 22, 2015  –  Gwinn High School hosted the “Meet the Modeltowners” event to kick off their new school year and give the community a chance to cheer for their favorite athletes and support their local high school teams.

The bleachers were alive with a sea of Black and Gold as cheerleaders fired up community members and students as the JV and Varsity football teams practiced on the big field. Younger kids didn’t want to feel left out of the action, so they played their own game off to the side.

Facepainters drew Modeltowner logos on fans of all ages and the All Sports Booster Club manned the Concession stand, handing out FREE snow cones and hot dogs! What a great night to be a Modeltowner fan!

When Athletic Director Rob Soyring took the mic, the crowd settled into their seats. Soyring thanked the community for their kindness and generosity announcing that local sponsors raised over $28,000 for the All Sports Booster Club!

As Linda Soyring presented the All Sports Booster club with a very large check while Athletic Director Soyring introduced each fall sports team to the crowd, including the MHSAA Class C District Champion varsity volleyball squad!

Rob Soyring introduced each team member by name as kids raised a hand or took a bow. The crowd went wild. The energy on the field and in the stands was electric as fans and students cheered on the Modeltowners.

Special thanks to Steve and Donja Keveren from Modeltown Express, Terry Corkin and his business, and Miron at Sunsations Tanning for their support in providing an excellent fireworks show to entertain the crowd.

The Gwinn Modeltowners are a lucky group of kids – they have the support of not only their family and friends, but of their entire community as they head into this new school year. Great Lakes Radio supports the Modeltowners as well on FOX Sports Gwinn 99.9, a new station built around Gwinn and its high school athletes.

The first football game of the season is coming up this Friday, August 28th, and you can listen to it on FOX Sports Marquette 99.9 and 105.1.
