Gwinn, Michigan– 03/03/16– It was the last home game of the night for our Gwinn ModelTowner Boys basketball team. The Manistique Emeralds traveled to Gwinn to take them on this Thursday night. It was a close game but unfortunately our ModelTowners took a loss. Districts are up next! Mike and Justin brought you all of the action on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1 and 99.9. The first half of the game started off great for our ModelTowner team as Gwinn made the first few points of the game. The Emeralds slowly took over the lead towards the end of the first leaving the score 12-14 with the ModelTowners trailing by two. Reed Weidenhoeffer, Austin Forbes, Theo Reddlan, and Desi Boogrin were forces for Gwinn in the first half of the game. Desi Boogrin stole the ball from an Emerald during the second quarter just to put it up and in for the ModelTowners! The ModelTowners were making more freethrows than the Emeralds in this game and it turned out to be a pretty clean game, especially in the first half. The score at the end of two was 32-31 with the ModelTowners in the lead over Manistique.
The second half of the game was a little more taxing for Gwinn as the Emeralds picked up their pace and made more baskets. Theo Reddlan was amazing in the second half as he put up basket after basket, including his three pointers for Gwinn! 41-51 was the score at the end of three with the Emeralds in the lead. Theo made most of the points for Gwinn in the last quarter but that didn’t mean there weren’t other ModelTowners that got a piece of the play. Bradley Veale had a nice steal for the ModelTowners during the fourth quarter along with Jordan Norman and Carter Ghiringhelli making some free throws for Gwinn. The Emeralds had a nice lead over the ModelTowners and for the last half minute of the game, they had just spread out to keep the ball with them and let the time slip by.
