Gwinn @ Negaunee. Big game for our Modeltowners!

GWINN, MI – 9/24/2014 –The Gwinn Modeltowners haven’t started off the 2014 as hoped.  With an 0-4 record accompanied by a struggling defense, the Modeltowners are one loss away from being eliminated from playoff contention already.  At this point, they have to play for pride, while also trying to play spoiler for a few teams who could potentially be knocked out of the playoffs.  They’ll get their chance this Friday night in Negaunee.

The rival Negaunee Miners are coming in losers of their last two, including one already on their home turf against Gladstone in week 3.  So not only will the Modeltowners be playing a pretty decent team by most standards, they’re playing a team that will be motivated by the fact that it’s their homecoming & the frustration of losing two winnable games in a row.  However, this is a game the Modeltowners can relish the chance to spoil for the Miners.  Negaunee’s offense has been struggling as of late, failing to break 20 points in the past two weeks.  There are times that the Miners offense looks a little confused about who’s assignment is who’s.  The Miners defense has been struggling too, giving up 66 points in the past three games combined.

Gordy Mielke and Casey Ford are thrilled to represent the Modeltowners and the good things going on in Gwinn
Gordy might be on vacation, but Casey & Roger Stein will have all of the coverage in Negaunee on Friday!

If Gwinn wants to win this ballgame and come away with a year’s worth of bragging rights, they’ll need to play to their talent level.  After a few players left the team, the Modeltowners are already running thin a few positions.  So they’ll have to avoid injuries at certain positions.  They’ll also need to put some drives together to tire out the Miners’ defense.  In last week’s contest, the Modeltowner’s managed just over 20 yards of total offense in the first half.  That isn’t good for either side of the ball, and believe it or not, a bad offense can cause bad defense and vice versa.

So could we see a great upset in the making?  Can the Modeltowners get off the shnide off of one of their biggest rivals?  Find out this Friday night as Casey Ford will have the call for you starting at 6:30 with a 7pm kickoff.  You can catch all of your Gwinn Modeltowner action on 103 FXD!  Go Modeltowners!
