01/06/2015 Gwinn, Michigan- Our ModelTowner ladies took on the Marquette Redmen tonight at the Gwinn court. It was an awesome game that proved the endurance and strength of both these teams. The Marquette Redmen are number one in the U.P. right now and the fact that our Gwinn ModelTowners were able to keep up with them says quite a bit. Gordon Mielke brought you all of the in-game action on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1 and streamed LIVE and on your smartphone at GoToGwinn.com.
The first quarter started off with a bang for Marquette as they took the lead with some cool 3-pointer shots by Destiny Beckman. Ellie Olson had scored the first point for Gwinn this ball game. Tori Lauren had also made a couple baskets first quarter same with Tiara Taylor. Over all, the first quarter went well with our ModelTowners getting a feel for the constant pressure put on by the Marquette Redmen ladies. First Quarter Score:
ModelTowners: 10
Redmen: 17
The second quarter was also filled with great action. At one point, Ellie had drew the coverage so

smoothly that tiara was open and able to get a shot! The pressure from the Redmed is very strong and the girls were getting a grip on what they needed to do in order to get some points. The Redmen did stay in the lead with a score of 30-16 in this quarter. Gordy brought you the second quarter action again on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1 and GoToGwinn.com.
Second Quarter Score:
ModelTowners: 16
Redmed: 30

During Halftime, Gordy spoke with his guest about the new sound system for the ModelTowners that the team and the guests really appreciate. Thanks again to all of those sponsors out there that pitched in for that definitely needed sound system! They said that other than the press and a few turnovers, the Gwinn ladies are holding their own against the number one team in the U.P. as of this year. Marquette has twelve players and Gwinn only has eight so the endurance for the Marquette Redmen is more prominent than the endurance of the Modeltowners, because they have the luxury of more players. Good job to the ModelTowners for playing hard!
The third quarter was another tough one. Jordan Hutchens was able to make an awesome 3-pointer. The “Twin Towers”, Tiara Taylor and Tori Lauren, do an excellent job when they get the ball passed to them. There were some nice passes by both teams. The Redmen stayed in the lead with a score of 46-32 for this quarter. Third Quarter Score:
ModelTowners: 32
Redmen: 46
The fourth quarter brought a lot of press by the Marquette Redmen as our ModelTowners started to

catch up and made it an 8-point game at one point. The ModelTowners had a great play as they passed back and forth and made use of each player on the court making it deep for an up and in shot from Tori Lauren. Gwinn Started to show more life in this quarter than the others as they closed in on the Redmen. The Marquette ladies wound up getting the ball and keeping it until the time eventually ran out. The final score for this game was 52-38 with the Redmen taking the win. The next Gwinn ModelTowner game is the girls taking on the Munising Mustangs in Munising, January 8th around 7:30pm.
