
Marquette, Michigan – January 30, 2015 – It’s that time of year again… The UP 200, Midnight Run and Jack Pine 30 dogsled races are back and it’s the 25th Anniversary of the UP 200! Teams from Michigan, Minnesota, Canada, and even Iowa, are competing this year in the UP 200, an Iditarod qualifier. Honor Credit Union is a proud supporter of the dogsled races and will be at the UP 200 finish line with free hot cocoa to warm cheering spectators up as their favorite teams cross the finish line.
Honor Credit Union President, Northern Market Ron Lauren encourages families to bundle up and join in the excitement as thousands of spectators gather in downtown Marquette to watch the dogs take off from the starting line for the UP 200 and the Midnight Run.

Both races start on Friday, February 13 at 7 pm and 8:30 pm (estimated) respectively, but events get underway on Wednesday, February 11 when the Race Headquarters opens up at the Marquette YMCA at 9 am. Stop by the YMCA to purchase merchandise and souvenirs or take part in the silent auction.
The Pre-Race Banquet and Bib Draw for the UP 200 and Midnight Run takes place at the YMCA Thursday night at 6 pm. The public is invited and tickets can be purchased at the door or at Race Headquarters. Join the mushers at the banquet as their bib numbers are drawn and handed out. Find out who will be the first team out of the chute for the races!

Friday morning, the vet check for all UP 200 and Midnight Run teams takes place at the Riverside Auto parking lot. Stop by to see the real athletes of the races as they undergo pre-race exams by volunteer race veterinarians. Even if you’re not a dog person, it’s touching to see the interaction between the mushers and their well-loved teams.
The opening ceremony for the 25th Anniversary of the UP 200 starts at 6:30 pm. Join Walt Lindala and Frida Waara as they welcome sponsors, representatives, and spectators to the race. The Marine Corps League Color Guard will display our flag with pride and the Marquette Male Chorus will give a special performance.
