Marquette, MI — June 24, 2016 — The 2016 Beacon House Celebrity Golf Classic was a pretty important event this year. At this year’s tournament, The Mariucci Family Foundation and the Beacon House kicked off a The Legacy of Love capital campaign in order to fund the building of a new Beacon House next to the new location of the hospital here in Marquette. The tournament was held Wednesday the June 22 and Thursday June 23 at The Marquette Golf Club.
The event began at the Landmark Inn when the celebrities arrived on Wednesday. There was a lot of excitement, handshakes and hugs exchanged between the celebrities, members of the Beacon House and the media along with introductions and a few drinks. When everyone was accounted for, two busses were boarded and the group headed down to the Beacon House for photos and a message from Steve Mariucci. As a nice surprise, the celebrities got to meet a guest of the Beacon House and hear his story. After a group photo, the busses were re-boarded, and they headed to The Marquette Golf Club, but not before driving by the site of where the new hospital, and hopefully the new Beacon House, will be built.
At the course, the Match Party, where teams are matched with their celebrity player, had begun. Wednesday night was when Mariucci officially kicked off The Legacy of Love campaign for the new Beacon House. The Match Party also consisted of dinner, drinks, both silent and live auctions, live entertainment and introductions of all of the celebrities in attendance.
The tournament began Thursday morning with the first team teeing off on the Heritage course at 10:00 after a breakfast served at the course, a ping-pong ball drop contest and a performance by Trino Magic. Concluding the tournament was the “19th Hole Party” for all of the celebrities and tournament players of the day where there were more auctions and the winners of the tournament were announced.
Thank you to everyone who made the 2016 Beacon House Celebrity Golf Classic a wonderful and successful event!
