Create your disaster plan during the 2017 Prepare Fair

Marquette, MI  –  September 5, 2017  –  Disasters seem so far away in the Upper Peninsula. It is easy to take safety for granted, but everyone should be prepared for an emergency.

The Emergency Management and Homeland Security Divisionof the Michigan State Police is collaborating with Marquette County Emergency Management to host the 2017 Prepare Fair at Westwood Mall. Running from 4 – 7p on Thursday, September 7th, emergency responders, nonprofits, and preparedness organizations will be distributing free information and promotional items, as well as exhibiting emergency response vehicles.

Bring the kids out to see the rapid response vehicles while you learn how to keep the family safe during an extreme winter storm, or something like a house fire.

Individuals attending the fair will learn about local emergency response agencies, how to develop a family emergency plan, and how to create an emergency preparedness kit, while receiving free items while supplies last. Local first responders and volunteers will be on site for a meet and greet so you can learn the faces of those here to help!

Disasters Don’t Plan Ahead. You Can.

Join the MSP/EMHSD at Westwood Mall on September 7, 2017 from 4-7 pm.
