This years annual Northern Michigan University’s health fair was such a successful event. Held in the Great Lakes room at the University Center, the event ran from 10am – 3pm February 7th 2012
The fair is a project of the Health Promotion Society, an organization devoted to promoting health and wellness in the campus and surrounding community. It offered healthy food samples, refreshments, prizes, take-home items, information on a variety of health related topics, as well as a visit from the Superior Land Pet Partners.
The Superior Land Pet Partners, is our local chapter of the Delta Society. The group consists of 50 dog and handler teams, they are frequently found at the nursing homes, hospitals, community events, and at the Peter White Public Library.
Every Thursday night from 6:00-7:30 at the library the Pet Partners provide an opportunity for children, who have either reading disabilities or are just tentative about reading. Reading to dogs boosts the child’s reading confidence because dogs are non-judgmental listeners. For more details and information, click here!
