Today was a very special day today on the Outdoor Show! Deer gun season is almost here, and we finally got some more snow today, which should help hunters if it sticks around through the weekend. We heard our usual Friday Outlaw Cut from Johnny Paycheck with “Take This Job and Shove It”, and I was also live at Super One Foods in Marquette for the 4 o’clock hour of my show, bringing you all sorts of amazing deals just in time for opening day!
My first Outdoor Report for today was with Greg from Bait Plus in Gwinn, MI. He had some great info for us today, and he told us all the ways that he can increase your chances of getting a big deer this season. He also had some specific tips for hunters that plan to use scents, and he let us know which scents have been working the best for hunters around Gwinn.
For the second of today’s Outdoor Reports, I caught up with MDNR Wildlife Specialist for Marquette County Brian Roell. We spoke a lot about what Brian has been doing to regain control of wolf management in the Upper Peninsula from the US Government. Then we switched over to talking about coyote hunting and how coyote numbers have changed in the recent years and what effect its had on the deer population, and we finished up by talking about cougars in the U.P.
On today’s Big Boy Sports Recap, Steve Whelan and I talked a bunch about last night’s Thursday Night Football game and their “interesting” choices for both teams’ jerseys with their ‘Color Rush’ uniforms. Also, we discussed the Tigers’ two players to win the Silver Slugger awards and the news for the rest of the MLB. We finished up today’s Big Boy Sports Recap by discussing our picks for this weekend’s football games.
We hope you had a great time tuning-in to today’s Adam Carpenter’s Outdoor Show! Tune in tomorrow for another great day of hunting, fishing, and sports in the UP and Michigan!
