It was another wonderful show here on the Outdoor Show today, and I sure had a lot of fun bringing you all the best country and bluegrass music, only on 103-FXD! The deer hunting season continued to be the main focus of my Outdoor Reports for the day, but we also talked about a very important topic to a lot of Michigan deer hunters: de-listing the wolf on the Federal Endangered Species List. My Outlaw Cut of the day was from the one and only Willie Nelson with his song “Angel Flying too Close to the Ground”.
The first of my Outdoor Reports for today was with Pete Sorel from Settlers Co-Op, out of Bruce Crossing, MI. He gave us his observations from out at the official deer check station, and he told us all about how it seems that the age class of the harvested deer seems to be much older than in past years, which will be beneficial for the overall health of the herd.
I had another very special guest for my second of the day’s Outdoor Reports. Michigan United Conservation Clubs Vice President George Lindquist joined me in the studio to tell us all about the big 8-point deer that he harvested this year in Marquette County. We then moved on to talk about how the deer regulations in Michigan have effected the age classes and buck/doe ratio of the deer herd. We finished up his segment talking about the possible de-listing of wolves from the Endangered Species List.
For today’s Big Boy Sports Recap, Steve Whelan and I started the segment out talking about the past weekend’s college football games. We then switched topics to talk about the NHL and Detroit Tigers news, and we finished-up the day talking about the NFL. Thursday’s Packers and Lions games were big topics for us, and we also discussed the points spreads for the upcoming games.
We hope you had a great time tuning-in to today’s Adam Carpenter’s Outdoor Show! Tune in tomorrow for another great day of hunting, fishing, and sports in the UP and Michigan!
