Marquette, MI – January 5th, 2015 – Our first outdoor report was a call to Chris at Bayview Bait and Tackle in Gladstone to check on the ice forming at the northern end of Little Bay De Noc. We talked about what they are using to catch perch and how thick the ice is. Chris also spoke about some new colors that came out this year for jigging minnows from Rapala and Moonshine.
Our next outdoor report was a conversation in the studio with Moonshine Lure Pro Staffer, Ryan Erickson. The hardcore ice fisherman shared news about new colors from Moonshine and allowed me to pick his brain about tackle preferences and electronics.
Steve and I had fun discussing the Red Wings victory last night against the New Jersey Devils. We also talked about the drop in ratings for the college football playoff games that took place on New Years Eve and how they will continue to be played at the same time next year. Some slightly tongue and cheek discussion ensued regarding the Packers intentionally losing their last game of the year as well as the latest about the Lions search for a new GM.
We listened to some great bluegrass today from IIIrd Tyme Out and Merle Travis. I had a request for Hank Williams Jr. for today’s Outlaw Cut artist and Elmer Aho’s American Country Gold Cut was a Don Gibson tune.
