I had another great day today bringing you the best country and bluegrass music, only on 103-FXD! The rain that we received last night is sure to put some more salmon into the rivers, but today’s show was all about the opening weekend of deer gun hunting! For today’s Outlaw Cut, I had a special request from Outdoor Show listener Frank for the Little River Band’s “You Dream, I’ll Drive”!
We had a bunch of amazing guests on the show today, and my first Outdoor Report was with the one and only Steve Koski from Indian Country Sports out of L’Anse, MI on the Western side of the U.P. Steve told us all about what he’s been seeing in his shop for hunters getting ready for the opening of gun deer season. Last year’s snow kept lots of hunters from getting to their camps, but this year is sure to be amazing! The combination of the warm fall weather delaying the rut and the lack of snow is going to mean excellent hunting conditions!
On the second of today’s Outdoor Reports, I had a very special guest return to the show! I welcomed back Gale Arden Bott, author of “Budget Bucks in Your Lap”. He had an amazing start to the day, when he harvested a 170+ lb (dressed weight) buck early this morning, and he was on the show to tell us all about his tactics for harvesting monster bucks! The doe-to-buck ratio is sure to mean that bucks will be moving around with the rut in full force, and Gale let us know how to improve your chances of harvesting a big buck this year! On our Big Boy Sports Recap today, Steve Whelan and I had a bunch of different topics to talk about! We discussed the big news with the Detroit Red Wings’ Pavel Datsuyk looking to be back for Friday’s game. We also discussed other injuries for the Red Wings and other NHL news. Steve and I made our picks for tonight’s NFL game, and we even had time to talk some Detroit Tigers baseball news!
