Marquette, MI – May 16, 2016 – Well, with the weather expected, we didn’t have high hopes for the walleye opener on Little Bay De Noc or Big Bay De Noc. And those dismal expectations were confirmed today by Chris of Bayview Bait & Tackle in Gladstone. He also passed along perch reports from Garden Bay as well as bass and brown trout reports. Chris also talked about the upcoming Cabela’s NTC Tournament starting Thursday this week and how it may impact local fishing around Little Bay de Noc through this weekend.
Next, we had the pleasure of speaking with Dr. Dana Richter, research scientist and fungi expert from Michigan Tech University. With this weeks weather pattern, morels should really explode throughout much of the U.P. and we talked about the kind of habitat to look for both morels and wild oyster mushrooms.
