George Strait is preparing to launch his final big country tour January 18, 2013 with his special guest Martina McBride.
The Cowboy Rides Away tour will run into 2014, consisting of 20 tour stops throughout the United States.
George made the big announcement Wednesday at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville.
George, who is 60 years old, explains that was the age he had in mind when it might be time to end his touring days. His Ace in the Hole band won’t be retiring completely, they just won’t be touring extensively in the future.
Fans can look forward to new music from George coming pretty soon too. He’s headed back in the studio to start work on a new album next month and plans to continue putting out a new project every year from here on out.
George says, “I’m feeling a little antsy about getting it back in the studio. So, I’ve got some great material already, and I’m working on some songs, some original stuff too.”
