You heard me mention last week that Thanksgiving is one of my two favorite holidays to celebrate, along with the 4th of July! With everyone making their lists of food items needed for their favorite Thanksgiving meal items, I decided to share some Turkey Humor since we only have three working days left before the Big Celebration!
Today, I was talking about the process of thawing before any cooking can happen. One of the slowest and most underestimated parts of the turkey-prep process is thawing the big, frozen bird. Home cooks have forever been attempting to speed up the process. Callers who have asked if you can thaw a frozen turkey using a hair dryer or an electric blanket – ah, NO!
The best way to thaw it fast is in the kitchen sink. You’ll need 30 minutes for each pound of bird and you should change the water every half hour – and place your turkey in COLD water!
Tomorrow’s topic – Stuffing vs Dressing!
