Friday’s Country Music News.
(The Boot.com) — It may be the most coveted live TV performance gig of the year, and for 2012 the spotlight will belong to Kelly Clarkson. The superstar has been tapped to perform the national anthem at this year’s Super Bowl in Indianapolis. She’ll be part of an all-star mix of country and rock artists who have been invited to perform for what will undoubtedly be the most-watched sporting event of 2012.
Kelly will follow her buddies Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert, who will sing a duet of ‘America the Beautiful’ prior to kick-off. In addition, Darius Rucker, Dierks Bentley and Sara Evans will also perform concerts in separate events leading up to the big game. Darius and Dierks will each sing on different nights as part of the 10-day pre-game festivities at Super Bowl Village. Meanwhile, Sara will perform for the Taste of the NFL’s 21st Annual Party With a Purpose on Feb. 4, to raise funds and awareness for various hunger-relief organizations.
