Wakefield, MichiganJune 1st, 2020 – After spending a weekend near Wakefield (Bergland Township to be exact) I ended up getting eaten alive by Mosquitoes. I must have 300+ bites on my body. They were absolutely horrible; but the trip overall was a blast!

I headed to the Western U.P. early Saturday afternoon. It was a bit rainy in Marquette, but Sunny and warmer out west. It’s been at least 6+ years since I’ve been in Gogebic County. My friend and I stayed in a small campground in Bergland Township. It was quiet, scenic, and on Lake Gogebic! This was truly a slice of heaven.

We spent Sunday exploring different parts of the U.P. I’ve never been to. We drove through Marenisco, and spent the day exploring the Ottawa National Forest. So much to see in so little time! It was great to get out and enjoy some fresh air.

I made sure to keep distance between everyone and wear my mask when inside the stores and restaurants. If you end up doing some camping yourself, make sure to keep your distance!

Either way, it’s great to get some form of ‘normal’ back into life.

The campfire kept me up till 2am! I just love the smell of campfire smoke in the summertime.
