Ishpeming, Michigan – October 19th, 2015 – Over the past couple of weeks I’ve been very busy outside of work with my home! That’s right, I purchased a home recently. There’s a few repairs that I have to take care of before I officially move in. I noticed that the shower doesn’t get hot, and there are a couple light fixtures on the ceiling that aren’t working when you flip on the switch.
So, where do you think the first place I went to for directions?! Youtube! Yes, you can find anything on Youtube that will give you guidance on “How To” replace OR fix anything by doing it yourself. Aka DIY. Personally, I prefer to learn to do everything myself to save some money and keep myself busy.
So, my first major project in my new home is fixing the cartridge in my shower faucet. The cold and hot water both run into one unit. So, that means I have to replace the actual cartridge. As you can see from the pictures it’s quite the job! I’ve been working on it off and on over the past couple of weeks. According to the Youtube videos I’ve been watching I need a special tool to pull out the cartridge, bring the cartridge to a hardware store, have a plumber find the same cartridge, and replace it yourself.
Everyone told me when you buy a home you’ll always have SOMETHING to work on to keep you busy. I enjoy being busy so I think I’m going to enjoy being a homeowner…
