Ishpeming, Michigan – May 9th, 2018 – Over the past few months I’ve been trying to decide which route to go for a pet–a cat or a dog? Maybe both? Well, after thinking it over again and again I decided that a cat would be the best way to go. I’m not home a whole lot, and cats, since they’re very independent animals, would in fact be the best route for me to go….maybe.
It would be nice to have the company of an animal in my home. I’ve lived in my home almost 3 years now. I figured it’s about time to open it up to someone else! Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want an animal just for the sake of having an animal. I want the company and I’d love to have a companion by my side. While cats and dogs are the complete opposite I determined it wouldn’t be an exciting life for a dog since I wouldn’t see it very often.
So, since this past Saturday UPAWS had the free adoption event going on, I figured I would take a drive there and see what they had to offer in the line of cats. Unfortunately, or fortunately (for the cats) most of them had already been adopted by 1pm! The free adoption event went on from 12pm to 5pm. I figured 1pm would be early enough to find a loving cat to welcome into my home. Turns out, it wasn’t.
I’ve been asking friends of mine if a cat would be the right direction. Most of them say they love owning a cat and they’re very loving animals. Keep in mind I’ve never had a pet of my own before. This is all very new and even a bit overwhelming for me. Oddly enough I already cat proofed my home since I was expecting to return with a cat on Saturday. Oh well, we’ll try again very soon for a cat!
