Ishpeming, Michigan – February 9th, 2016 – Have you ever had the pleasure of having homemade Meat and Potato Pie? No, I wasn’t the one who baked it. My folks invited me over during the big game on Sunday and had a surprise waiting for all of us on the dinner table… Meat and Potato Pie! I knew I had the pleasure of having this awesome dinner before. But when? I couldn’t picture in my mind what the actual dish looked like. It’s been too long. My sense of smell told me this was my favorite dish when I was growing up. This was more of a surprise than the Denver Broncos slipping past the Carolina Panthers!
We dug in! Not much was said around the dinner table on Sunday. There were too many “mmmmm” and “this is soooo good” comments being made. My mom always cooked it to perfection. It’s exactly as I had remembered from years ago. Meat and Potato Pie is a slice of heaven! The potatoes were soft but not TOO soft, the meat melted in my mouth, and the crust around the edge of the casserole was crunchy but not TOO crunchy. This is a meal everyone needs to enjoy at some point in their lives.
Put this meal on your Sunday dinner table! Meat and Potato Pie. It looks like a giant pot pie. It REALLY is a slice of heaven. Give it a try sometime.
