Ishpeming, Michigan – June 6th, 2016 – How do I know my patio was paved in 1964? After cleaning it up I found an engraving from 1964 that read “TC 1964” right in the cement! Neat! “TC” are the initials of the previous owner of the home that I moved into. I thought this was an awesome piece of history and I’m glad to have found it–deep within the cement–behind my garage. 1964. Just think… what was America–and Ishpeming–like at this time?
Since I moved into my home last October I’ve been working on projects around the home almost every weekend. There’s a patio behind my garage that hasn’t been used in almost 30 years! It was piled with old pieces of wood, outdoor furniture that had seen better days, and the stench of the 1970’s filled the patio. By golly I wanted this patio cleaned up so I could enjoy the summer nights outside my home rather than inside!
After some work, determination, and a large black trash bag I was finally able to get my patio cleaned up last week. It’s now usable! I’ve even got my grill out, my trusty patio chair, and my garden hose. Now I just have to figure out how to get my back in balance after lifting all the heavy clutter out of the patio…
