Houghton, Michigan – March 14th, 2016 – I just love the Copper Country. From the clean air to the Quincy Mine in Hancock, there’s always something to do when you head up north. My friend from Hancock invited me north for the weekend. Since Elmer Aho was out on Saturday night, this gave me a chance to take a mini vacation for the weekend. Okay, so it wasn’t really a vacation, but it’s the first weekend where I actually went somewhere since last December.
The weather cooperated for a change, too. Highs were in the 50’s over the weekend. This was a repeat of last weekend! Since I was heading up north I figured it would be safe to still bring along my winter jacket. It came in handy during the evening when my friend and I took a walk to downtown Hancock for a couple beers.
The restaurants in the Keweenaw are always the draw for me. We always go out on Friday night when I arrive. After a long week, we both deserved a nice break from reality. We also went out for dinner on Saturday, too. Usually we always go to a little restaurant just north of Calumet. My friend was doing the driving so I had to go where he went. The weather was great, the food was impeccable, and the air was clean. This is the Copper Country that keeps bringing me back again and again.
Welcome to Monday. Reality is back.
