Marquette, MI – May 20, 2019 – Game of Thrones aired its final ever episode on HBO last night. And I may be in the minority here, but I actually liked it.
Twitter was up in flames after the episode last night with everyone trashing how terrible it was, as they have been all season long. People are saying it was rushed (it kind of was, it was only 6 epsiodes), and that the writers didn’t know what they were doing. But I thought they tied everything up pretty well and gave me closure, that’s all I could really ask for.
The reality is, the show became too big for itself. The fan theories, the extended wait, the unrealistic hype – it was all too much. There is no way the final season could have gone that would have satisfied the fans of the show. People just truly love to be upset at things rather than enjoy them.
While it wasn’t the best season Thrones had to offer, it did what it needed to do. Game of Thrones was my all-time favorite show watching experience, and I am grateful to everyone that worked so hard on making the show to make that possible for me.
