Marquette, Michigan – November 11, 2016 – I came in early this morning to hop on the morning sports show on our sister station Fox Sports Marquette. So to get in the full spirit, I decided to wear my Dez Bryant jersey. I am a big Cowboys fan and Dez has been my favorite player for quite some time. I discovered today that I work with a lot of Green Bay Packer fans and they sure like to heckle me about the playoff game a couple of years ago between the two teams.
If you do not remember, the divisional round playoff game featured the Cowboys and the Packers in Lambeau. It was a great, close game all throughout, and late in the 4th quarter with the Cowboys down a score, the Cowboys faced a 4th down. The Cowboys had the best rushing attack in the NFL, but on 4th and short, quarterback Tony Romo went up top to Dez Bryant on the far sideline. Dez went up, over the defender’s back, made the catch, came down and dove for the endzone. When Dez dove for the goal line, he crossed the plane but the ball came lose when he landed on the ground. The play was ruled a touchdown initially, but was overturned after the replay review. The Cowboys lost, and the Packers played in the NFC Championship game the following week.
I would just like go on record and say, Dez caught the ball, and it should have been ruled a touchdown. That play will forever haunt me. Especially living in semi-Packer country.
