Great Sunday at Lambeau

Cowboys fans stick together!

Green Bay, WiscosninOctober 18, 2016 – It could not have been a better day than this past Sunday at Lambeau.  The sun was shining, it got up to around 70 degrees, and oh yeah, the Cowboys beat the Packers.

I met up with some of my buddies (who are Packers fans) Saturday afternoon.  It was a weekend we had been planning for a while and it was finally upon us.  We had a great time on Saturday. We did some shopping at the Fox River Mall in Appleton, got some dinner and some drinks, but Sunday could not have come quick enough. Sunday came around and we decided to start the tailgate process early.  It was already such a beautiful day and we were filled with such anticipation that we decided to start with mimosas, because every great day starts with a mimosa.

After we all got ready and in our teams colors we hopped in the car and headed for Green Bay (we had a sober driver). We got to Green Bay around 12:30 (it was a 3:25 start) central time, plenty of time to hang around Lambeau and have some fun before heading into the stadium.  To my surprise, I saw a lot of Cowboys blue-and-white to compliment all the green-and-gold. The atmosphere around Lambeau leading up to the game was absolutely electric as I thought to myself, what a great place for football.

With the weather still warm and the sun still shining into the stadium, I got to my seat about an hour before kickoff.  Thanks to my brother, Kurt, for scoring awesome tickets I could not have picked better seats.  I sat 6 rows up on the 50-yard line behind the Dallas bench, and I could almost listen in on the conversations on the sideline (not really). For the hour before the game started, I found myself mesmerized by how beautiful the venue was.  I have only been to Lambeau one other time in my life, back in 2004, so I didn’t remember it all that well.  This time I got to soak it all in and appreciate the venue I was watching the game at.

Had to snap a selfie inside Lambeau

One of the coolest moments came at halftime.  Brett Favre was in the building to be honored for his induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. I have never been too fond of the Packers, but I always respected and really enjoyed watching Brett Favre play.  It may sound cliche at this point, but I never saw anyone play the game of football with as much joy and passion as Brett Favre did his entire career.  To be in the building for when they revealed his name on the Lambeau field wall as a Packer in the Pro Football Hall of Fame was special to me as a football fan.

As for the game, I really had a great time.  I had far more Cowboys fans around me than I could have imagined, and it was great to have some like-minded people around me in hostile territory.  I am not an irrational fan, and thus made friends with even the Packers fans around me through mutual love of the game of football.  Lambeau was a great experience, and I’m glad I was lucky enough to experience watching my favorite team play there.

When I look back at the overall experience I had on Sunday in Green Bay at Lambeau Field, there is really only one thing I can say…

HOW BOUT DEM COWBOYS.
