Brad Paisley’s first book, Diary of a Player: How My Musical Heroes Made a Guitar Man Out of Me, is now available. His guitar heroes like Vince Gill, Steve Wariner, Don Rich and James Burton are featured in the book, many of whom he’s gotten to work with over the years. His grandfather’s influence also plays prominently in the book. Brad recalls that’s the person who told him, “Don’t let this get away from you. This could be the greatest thing that’s ever happened to you in your life as far as that instrument goes.”
Brad never intended to write a book, and says it was his co-author, David Wild, who suggested he do it. Says Brad, “He had a lot of questions for me, and his boys play the guitar.” Brad also wanted to write something that would have been helpful for him as a 10-year-old just starting out as a guitarist. “There wasn’t anything like that that basically said here is what you can do if you practice,” Brad says. “Which is really what this book oughta be called: Brad Paisley: Here’s What You Can Do if You Practice.”
Brad will promote Diary of a Player with appearances on Thursday’s edition of Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. He’ll stop by ABC’s Good Morning America Friday morning followed by an appearance that night on CNN’s Piers Morgan Tonight and Fox News’s On the Record with Greta.
