Ishpeming, MI– Cliffs Natural Resources’ Michigan operations announced that company donated four automatic external defibrillators (AEDs) to the Ely Township First Responders.
The AED models donated are Lifepak 5000s manufactured by Medtronic, and are valued at approximately $2,000 each. Ely township First Responders now have a life saving tool on hand. The early defibrillator along with CPR increases the survival rate in patients in cardiac arrest.
Before this donation, only eight of the 12 members of the Ely Township First Responders had the AEDs available to them. All members can now carry an AED in their jump-bag when responding to am emergency situation.
Approximately 237 square miles in Ely and Tilden Townships west of Ishpeming are covered by the Ely Township First Responders.
