Marquette, MI– November 12, 2011 – The Marquette General Women’s and Children’s Center, in conjunction with Kohl’s and Marquette Mountain, will host a Kohl’s Cares® “Heads UP on Safety” Event Saturday, November 12, from 10 a.m. – Noon at the Marquette Mountain Ski Lodge.
The event will feature hands-on learning and valuable information for families on ski and snowboard safety. The first 100 children, ages 13 and under, will receive a certificate for a free ski/snowboard helmet. Personnel from the National Ski Patrol will present a ski/snowboard safety program and will be available to answer questions. Participants will be given goodie bags and will also have the chance to win a family groomer ride and the opportunity to learn about the affordable Mining Journal and Wendy’s youth ski schools at Marquette Mountain this ski season.
At 10:30 a.m., Kohl’s representatives will present a grant check in the amount of $25,681 to the Marquette General Women’s and Children’s Center as part of its Kohl’s Cares program. Since 2003, when the Marquette store opened, Kohl’s has donated more than $150,000 to the Marquette General Women’s and Children’s Center.
Kohl’s commitment to Marquette General Women’s and Children’s Center is made possible through the Kohl’s Cares® cause merchandise program. Through this initiative, Kohl’s sells $5 books and plush toys where 100 percent of net profit benefits children’s health and education programs nationwide, including hospital partnerships like this one. Kohl’s has raised more than $150 million dollars through this merchandise program.
