So, I was reading an article on TheBoot.com about Miranda Lambert’s desire for her fans to see her as just a normal girl. I’m confused.
Not many people see stars and celebrities as “normal” people. Yes, they get dressed the same way we do…unless they have someone dressing them. They bathe, eat, and attempt to do normal activities. But, celebrities are usually under the scrutinizing eye of the paparazzi and their adoring fans.
She is quoted saying:
“We can’t just go to Wal-mart anymore,” the singer-songwriter notes. “We’ve both reached this different level in our careers. It’s a good thing but it’s also sometimes like you can’t do normal things at certain times because we have to remember, ‘Oh, people think we’re famous,’ so we have to sort of be careful about those things.”
Having worked for the Milwaukee Bucks, I’ve met my fair share of NBA players. Not to be a name dropper, but I’ve met Andrew Bogut, Michael Redd, Yi Jianlian, Shaq, Kevin Nash, LeBron James, and a few VIP guests. Now, I’ve gotten a little star struck…especially when I tried to wish Charles Woodson good luck at the upcoming Packer game and made a mumbling, stuttering goof out of myself. My friend, Bill, thought that it was great that all I could get out of my mouth was something along the lines of, “Goob Lud on Sumday, Mr. Woodson.” Charles Woodson just looked at me with this perplexed glance and kind of said Thank You.
Now, I hate to break it to Miranda, but once you’ve hit “celebrity” status. I don’t think there is anything such as ‘normal’ any more. Good Luck!
