Love and Theft have not included their viral hit “Try To Make It Anway” on their second album and they are hearing about it from fans.
Stephen Barker Liles said it was not the direction they wanted to go for this album. They wanted this album to be like their lives shows. There is nothing on the album that they can’t do live.
“Try To Make It Anyway” was actually written in 2008 for the bands tour mate at the time, Taylor Swift. And Taylor’s “Hey Stephen was written for the duo’s Stephen Liles!
“She was like, ‘Hey, I wrote a song about you,'” Stephen said. “And I was like, ‘That is so weird. I just wrote a song about you like a week ago!’ But she didn’t say whether it was a nice song, so I waited like four months to see if it was going to be a mean song! I knew in my heart it wasn’t going to be, but her track record is like all mean songs.”
This album is a lot different from their first one because they are now a duo instead of trio and they tried to make it more organic.
