This past Saturday and Sunday was the special Youth Firearm Deer Hunt days for ages 16 and under.
My little brother is 14 years old and he was eligible for a combination license for the weekend.
My boyfriend and I have been watching a nice 8-point out in our field for the whole summer and decided, since he had never shot a buck, this would be a great opportunity for him.
My family came over Saturday evening so that my Dad and brother could hunt. My mom, sister, boyfriend, his cousin, and I were all sitting around the table talking about how we had seen the buck on camera at 7 p.m. the last three nights.
At 6:58 I said, “Two more minutes.”
Then at 7:03 we heard a shot! I threw my hands up in the air and everyone gasped! Only five minutes later we seen my dad walking in. “We quit,” he said, unable to hold back his smile. We all knew he was joking.
My brother finally got a buck and he now has the most points on a deer out of us kids, but MY 6-point buck is still the biggest!
