Escanaba – 09/10/2011– Todd Noordyk, General Manager and emcee of the Michigan state final said, “I love the Music Showdowns. I love it that participants’ parents are committed to their kids success. Showdowns give youth from 14 to 24 a chance to compete on a world class stage. They sing and play their hearts out. Attendance was very good Saturday. We had people travel to Escanaba from Wisconsin, Toledo, Ohio; Detroit, Hastings, Adrian and across the U.P. Since half of the attendees were from downstate, I discovered the auditorium was half-filled with Packer fans and half with Lions fans.
I was also excited to work with Angel Mlecki from S.P.I. who ran a tight, well organized line up for the show. The Lansing back -up band, Broadberg was extremely proficient and talented. Angie from the casino was super as the local coordinator that I had the pleasure once again, to worked with. The lights and sound system used on stage is world class in Escanaba, the perfect place to hold a State Final.
When the talent Showdown dust finally settled, Kris Hitchcock representing the Hastings, Michigan area won the state title, $1,000 and the opportunity to compete in the Midwest Regional Final at Menominee Casino and Resort in Kenosha, WI on November 5, 2011.
All in all, it was a delightful night celebrating the display of musical talent from youth at a wonderful location at the Island Casino and Resort in Escanaba.” Thanks so much to all who participated in all of our Showdown Contests this year and look forward to competing again next year as WFXD, the Country Extreme host the Texaco Country Music Showdown in 2012!
