Kip Moore’s Latest at Number One for the Second Week
Kip says that he was speechless when his manager called and told him that his latest hit reached number one in the country. And now it will be staying there for a second week.
“I definitely had a moment where I told my producer, Brett James, that I felt like Rocky Balboa in Rocky II when he holds the belt up. Instead of saying, ‘Yo, Adrian,’ I said, ‘Yo, Brett, we did it!'” Kip said after hitting the number one spot.
He says the song is such a hit because there are people in small towns all across the country who are sitting on tailgates, fishing and drinking beer. He says so many have grown up in small towns and they get it and that’s why people love it so much.
Kip also says this has validated his writing style of having no boundaries. He’s written or co-written every song on his latest album “Up All Night” and having his hit reach number one shows him that his method is working.
“People called me crazy at first because we wrote four verses before we get to the chorus, but I stuck to my guns and said, ‘This is how I am supposed to write this song,'” Kip said. And it has worked.
He is going to be at the CMA Music Festival next week at the LP Field in Nashville, Tenn.
