Marquette, MI – March 1, 2016 – Erik Lennartson from Marquette Monthly came to interview American Country Gold host Elmer Aho after hearing Elmer had been on the radio for 28 years now! With a loyal fan base and a MTBA Award under his belt, Elmer has taken the classic country radio world by storm.
Having written a lot of songs himself, Elmer started his country radio career at WJPD in 1988. With pop country starting to grow around the beginning of Elmer’s time on the radio, he wanted to hold onto classic country, thus American Country Gold was born.
Elmer now plays on 103-FXD Saturdays 7 PM – Midnight with classic country hits played live right off their vinyl records. Even today Elmer sticks to his classic country theme with songs produced from about the 1920s to the ’80s. During the interview Elmer even joked that if he played music that was too modern, he had people calling up asking why we put that song on!
You can join the Elmer Aho fan base no matter where you are. Elmer’s show streams on-line around the world and is even put on-air by his family on a Finnish radio station!
American Country Gold is a by-request radio show so make sure to call in for your live, on-air request. Call in Saturday nights at (906) 227-8888
