Marquette, MI – January 6th, 2016 – Our first guest, Chris Gestwicki of Caddishack Guide Service, was kind enough to chat while out on the river catching winter steelhead. Chris shared some hot streamer patterns for those interested in “swinging” flies for steelhead. He also share the most effective nymph patterns right now on our rivers. Chris was also knowledgeable about the best live baits for steelheading and we had fun talking about center pinning techniques and what made it so effective.
Next we spoke with the always entertaining Foxy from Foxy’s Den in Garden Corners. He spoke about incredibly dangerous ice currently on Garden Bay and how the perch would spawn twice a year. Foxy also spoke about his family of “pet” crows that he feeds at his store. It was an interesting interview.
Steve and I had a short Big Boy Sports Recap today and spent the majority of the time discussing the potential retirement of Calvin Johnson. We also talked about the only Red Wing to make the All Star team this year, rookie Dylan Larkin.
Had several requests for specific songs today including one from my own dad for “Wagon Wheel” by Old Crow Medicine Show. Later we heard Bill Monroe’s “Get Up John”. Johnny Cash graced our Outlaw Cut spot today with “Hey Porter” and for Elmer Aho’s cut we heard “Jambalaya” by Hank Williams Sr.
